Welcome to the
Wicklow International Film Festival
located in Ireland's sunny south east in the maritime town of Arklow, County Wicklow - the 'Garden of Ireland'.

The Wicklow International Film Festival is an exciting event for film lovers and makers alike. For our first year, Irish and international films will be screened at XXXX.

The festival takes place in the beautiful maritime town of Arklow on the south east of County Wicklow, known as the Garden of Ireland. The town is surrounded by Beaches, Forests, Hills and more. The town is filled with a variety of restaurants, bars, cafes, clothing stores and more.

Every year we accept short films from all over the world to be entered into our short film competition.

ABOUT PROGRAMMING

​

The Wicklow International Film Festival accepts films in every genre, on any topic, from every country around the world. We do not disqualify any films based on premiere status. 

The festival program is selected entirely from our blind submissions pool and no films are given special treatment based on who made them or who they know.

 

There will be 30 Short Films Officially Selected and will be given Laurels to display on posters and social media platforms.

​

From these, 10 will be awarded Finalists and presented with a Finalist Certificate at the closing ceremony. Digital Certificates will be emailed to those that cannot attend in person.

​

From the 10, one short film will be awarded the Wicklow International Film Festival’s Best International Short Film of the year where the winner(s) will be presented with a beautiful trophy at the closing ceremony.

RULES & TERMS

Wicklow International Film Festival Short Film Competition 2022 

 


CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY

Submissions only via FilmFreeway.


All films must have been completed after January 2019. To be eligible for the short film competition films must be 30 minutes or less in duration including end credits. Films should be password protected. Films should be presented in their original versions with English language subtitles or commentary where necessary.

​

All films not in English must have English Subtitles. 

​

DEADLINES & FEES 


Please note, only one submission will be accepted per short film. If a second submission is made it will be disregarded and Wicklow International Film Festival will not be held responsible for losses incurred.

 

All Fees must be Paid with Submission. Failure to pay will mean your Submission will be disregarded.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 


Films selected for screening during the Festival should be in digital format such as Pro Res or High Res MOV or AVI encoded MPEG-4 video or H.264/H.265; 4k/8k UHD reduced to 1080 x 2048 resolution. Please note Wicklow International Film Festival does not accept DCPs.
 
The entrant agrees that up to 30 seconds of their film may be used by Wicklow International Film Festival/Dave Thomas Films/Bella Vision in promotional activities including screening a clip on television, Festival’s website and Social Media platforms. Acceptance of these regulations implies that you will abide by them in your dealings with the Festival and also that you are legally entitled to submit this film for consideration. 

 

Wicklow International Film Festival does not accept films freely available to view in full online. If your film is available to view publicly in full on YouTube, etc. then it will be automatically withdrawn from the competition.

 

ONLY SEND THE FINAL COMPLETED VERSION OF YOUR FILM. WE DO NOT ACCEPT RE-EDITS OR WORKS IN PROGRESS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ESPECIALLY AFTER FILMS ARE SUBMITTED INTO COMPETITION.

 

Deadline for Submission: DATE HERE

Submissions received after the Deadline will be disregarded.

 

SELECTION & NOTIFICATION 


All selected filmmakers are invited to attend Wicklow International Film Festival as guests of the Festival. The Festival cannot subsidise or pay for any expenses for travelling, accommodation etc. 

 

The Wicklow International Film Festival will provide you with a Free Pass for Two, to attend the Programme that your film is selected for.

 

All entries will be viewed by the selection committee. Official Festival selection will be announced in May 2022. Only successful entrants will be notified by email. Details of selected films will also be posted on our website and social media (links below). The Festival does not pay fees for submitted screened work. Official Selection films will have their screening during the Festival and on the last day an overall winner will be announced.
